ABOUT US
We come from a marginalized Somali-bantu community that had very little opportunities back home. We come from parents who spent a good part of their lives fleeing, war, famine and straight up just struggling to survive. As children of refugee families, we were born in the refugee camps and endured and witnessed our families struggle to survive. Although, our parents never had educational opportunities and resources that could have their families competing with the world. They did one heck of a job raising champions that would one day would become professional that would advocate and work for their communities.
From navigating the troubles of war and famine to the struggles of life as a refugee. Now we face a new challenge with most of our families living in crime ridden, polluted low-income neighborhoods. Our elders did everything they to get us educated and get us to where we can start being help to our own communities. We are now carrying the torch and this time we are the ones with a fair shot to help bring an end to our community's lifelong struggle.
Here we are now, all we wanted to do was impact youth live positively through athletics, but the needs of our community called us to take on so much more.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide comprehensive services to refugees and immigrants, while advocating for their rights and dignity, in order to help them successfully integrate into the communities they now call home. We will work to ensure that refugees and immigrants have access to necessary resources, such as education and employment, to help them build a foundation for a better future. We will strive to foster understanding and respect between newcomers and the wider community, working to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their origins, are seen as valuable members of our society.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a world where refugees, immigrants and all people from underserved neighborhoods are safe, respected and empowered to reach their full potential regardless of their immigration status. We strive to ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities for everyone who has been displaced to rebuild their lives, achieve self-sufficiency, and pursue their dreams. We believe in the power of collaboration, inclusion, and collective action to create a more just and equitable world.
